Amidst all of the chaos occurring around the world as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, people in Wuhan needed to find a messaging platform with location-based search to communicate with one another and share their story to the outside world. As nothing existed, their creative solution was to use Tinder as a chat program utilising its inbuilt location-based searching.

Tinder use in Wuhan rose 309% during the month of March, 2019.

An alternative for instant location-based messaging could have been the now launched Brane, a location-based social network and messenger.
