Before you start
Webflow's custom code fields need a paid site or workspace plan, so they are switched off on a free site. You also need the free Brane app to answer from. Custom code only goes live when you publish, so check the chat on your published site.
1
Get your chat code
Open the live chat code builder, enter your Brane username, pick your colours and click Copy code.
2
Open your site settings
From your Webflow dashboard open the site's settings, then the Custom code tab.
3
Paste it into Footer code
Paste your code into the Footer code box, which Webflow places before the closing </body> tag on every page. Click Save changes.
4
Publish
Publish your site and open it in a new tab. The chat button is in the corner, and every message arrives in the Brane app on your phone.
The code
This is the whole install. Swap yourbrand for your Brane username, or make your own with your colours in the code builder.
Site wide, not page by page. Footer code in site settings reaches every page, so there is nothing to add to each template.
Light on your site. The script loads nothing else until a visitor opens the chat, and defer keeps your pages fast.
Your own button, if you like. Pick My own button in the code builder and open the chat from any Webflow button with window.Brane.open().
<script src="https://embed.brane.chat/embed.js"
data-user="yourbrand"
defer></script>
Paste it into Site settings, Custom code, Footer code.
Custom code needs a paid Webflow site or workspace plan. On a free site the fields are switched off.
Site wide custom code does not run in the Designer canvas. Publish your site and open the published address to see the chat.
For a floating chat on every page, use Footer code in site settings. An Embed element only adds code where you place it, on the pages you place it on.
Yes. The chat and the Brane app are free, with no paid plan and no limit on conversations. The only cost is the Webflow plan you need for custom code.
No. They enter their email address and date of birth in the chat and start talking on your site. If they have left by the time you reply, your answer is emailed to them.
