Before you start
Wix only offers Custom Code on a paid plan with a connected domain, so a free wixsite.com site cannot add it. You also need the free Brane app to answer from. Custom code never runs inside the Wix editor, so you check the chat on your live, published site.

Get your chat code
Open the live chat code builder, enter your Brane username, pick your colours and click Copy code.

Open Custom Code
In your Wix dashboard go to Settings, then Custom Code (under Advanced), and click Add Custom Code.

Paste it and choose where it goes
Paste your code, name it Brane chat, then choose All pages, Load code once, and Place code in Body - end. Click Apply.

Check your live site
Open your published site in a new tab. The chat button is in the corner, and every message arrives in the Brane app on your phone.
The code
This is the whole install. Swap yourbrand for your Brane username, or make your own with your colours in the code builder.
All pages, loaded once. The chat follows visitors around your site without loading again on every page.
Body - end keeps Wix fast. Wix itself recommends putting third party scripts at the end of the body, so your content shows first.
Easy to turn off. Switch the snippet off or delete it in Custom Code.

Paste it into Settings, Custom Code, Add Custom Code.
Custom Code is only available on a paid Wix plan with a connected domain. Upgrade the site and connect your domain, and it appears under Settings.
Use Custom Code. The Embed HTML element puts code in its own box on one page, so the chat button would be stuck inside that box rather than floating in the corner of every page.
Wix does not run custom code in the editor. Publish your site and open the live address to see the chat.
Yes. The chat and the Brane app are free, with no paid plan and no limit on conversations. The only cost is the Wix plan you need for Custom Code.
No. They enter their email address and date of birth in the chat and start talking on your site. If they have left by the time you reply, your answer is emailed to them.
